the reason ballets by women are so infrequently commissioned and performed is that there is a cabal of mostly gay men that became both choreographers and directors. this network lead to the same people being platformed from the 2000s til recently. this in turn happened as performing men on average work less (less male corps and soloist roles in the ballet canon) but get paid the same as their female counterparts, allowing them to pursue choreography or management positions internally
