one of the biggest shocks of maturing was realizing that boston is in a one-sided rivalry with NYC that it has 0 business being in. like i grew up really socialized to believe boston was actually in the running like why wasn’t the rivalry with like… san diego? i know that’s on the other side of the continent but… that makes way more sense. maybe portland too? or like salt lake city or some shit (never been to any). NYC is rivaling like london, LA, tokyo—why would boston fit into this story 😫
