Gelatin silver and chromogenic prints with applied ink
MOMA, Floor 2
Over the span of 12 hours, from dawn to dusk, Alÿs recorded the progression of a shadow cast by a flagpole in Mexico City's Plaza de la Constitución. The resulting images capture patterns of movement, as passersby gravitate toward the shadow to seek relief from the hot sun.
