hello from 순천 suncheon. i'm at my 큰이모 aunt and 큰이모부 uncle's house for a couple of days.
here, they feed you every second hour of the day. a full table setting: rice, abalone jook, kimchi jiggae, crab legs, fried fish, fried eel, freshly made kimchi, various banchan and endless bottles of makgeolli.
earlier this evening my cousins came by with their wives and nieces and nephews for dinner. i'm 20 years older than the youngest person in the family. one of my cousins, it's my first time meeting my nephew and niece but i buy them snacks and ice cream to make sure they remember meeting their cool aunt. my cousin, 20 years older than me, shows me his naver blog. he writes and shares photos on his personal blog "whenever something happens". he brings three albums with photos to show me a photo of us together from twenty six years ago. my aunt and uncle show me photos of photos on their phones.
i'm reminded that everyone has their own way of documenting, remembering and sharing. and that sharing those artifacts are a way to connect with each other... even when it's been sixteen years and whole worlds apart.
camera notes from today.
